Volunteering Update

Unfortunately our physical volunteering activities have been suspended as we are relocating our studio at the hospital so we're not able to do any live programmes at present. It’s likely to be a significant number of months before things change.

One of the most important aspects of Northern Air Hospital Radio, as distinct from other radio stations, is direct and regular contact with our listeners. So we ask all our volunteers to commit to a regular time each week, to visit the wards in one of the hospitals, chat to patients, collect music requests and gain a good understanding of how important our service is to them. We’re also a charity, staffed by volunteers and dependent upon donations and fund-raising to cover the costs of operating the service, therefore we also ask our volunteers to help out on our various fund-raising activities.

All our broadcasters will help with ward-visiting, fund-raising, or many of the other backroom jobs involved, such as engineering, marketing, and publicity. We also have some non-broadcasting members who help out with specialist skills.

We would be looking for additional volunteers who can commit to a regular time each week, perhaps a couple of hours or so, and are willing to go through the hospital Trust’s volunteer training course. If you could fill in the application form on our website and we’ll keep in touch. In the meantime, we suggest you have a listen online, and you'll be able to hear the service we provide.

Note: Trust rules require volunteers to be aged 18 or over.
