Edward Davies - Obituary

I was very sad to hear of the passing of Edward Davies on the 20th March 2023 at the age of 64. I first met Edward in the year 2000 when he came along to be a volunteer for Northern Air Hospital Radio. Edward had previously been a volunteer at the Royal Free Hospital Radio in London.

We had a great working relationship; it helped by having a similar sense of humour. We did many outside broadcasts together from the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester. Edwards love of classical music made him the right man to present many of the Halle concerts. His presentation skills were like watching an artist painting a picture. He would set the scene even down to the weather outside. If you closed your eyes you could imagine you were actually in the hall - Pictures of the mind.

At this very sad time all our thoughts go to Edwards wife Juliette and his son Harrison.

Edward Davies - Team Member

When I was five I talked so much that my parents had to buy me a tape recorder. This led to me running a mobile disco in my teens and a spell as a nightclub DJ in my twenties. This continued until I lost the ability to stay up all night and then work the following day! So I moved into hospital radio first with Royal Free Radio in London and now with Northern Air Hospital Radio. I now present the Sunday night Halle concerts live from the Bridgewater Hall.
